Nine months
after the beginning of the project, the study tour has taken place
as planned during the first week of June 2003. It was a remarkable
opportunity for the meetings of the Asian and the European partners
through the visit of French and Dutch institutes and sites, after
the mid-term seminar postponement because of the SARS epidemy.
- The Asian participants came from the two Asian partners and their
associates:
- the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (MARD)
and the National University of Hanoi (Institute of Mechanics),
- the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRC) and the 4 National
Mekong Committees of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
The sites
and the workshops were organised by the National Company of the
Rhone River (Lyon, France), SOGREAH Hydraulics Laboratory (Grenoble,
France) and TNO Geoscience Institute (Utrecht, the Netherlands).
Additional presentations were provided in Grenoble by the Centre
for Technical Maritime and Water Studies (CETMEF, Compiegne) and
by the Technical Laboratory of Hydraulics and Environment (LTHE)
of the Grenoble University of Technology. In the Netherlands, additional
presentations were provided by the Storm Surge Warning Service (Den
Haag) and the Inland Waters Information Centre (Lelystad) of the
Ministry of Public Works and Water Management.
