During the first year a study tour in Asia was organised
for Island stakeholders. Seminars took place in Hanoi, Phnom Penh,
Vientiane and in a few province cities between March 6th and 19th
2005. They came out with a consensus about the pilot sites where
the project next phases of technology transfer take place.
During the second semester of 2005 field surveys were carried out
on the chosen pilot sites : Tu Ky district in the Hai Duong
province of Vietnam, Ba Phnom and Peam Ro districts in the Prey
Veng province of Cambodia and Champassak district in Lao PdR.
The survey results were analysed with the Island Asian partners
and with the European partners recommendations, an ITC prototype
tool has been defined and then discussed during a Workshop that
took place on January 31st and February 1st 2007.
Following recommendations from the workshop, the prototype was adapted
and tested on the pilot sites.
During the final seminar (14-16/05), partners attended the demonstration
of the prototype developed in the frame of ISLAND. It was widely
appreciated. Possibilities and stakes were discussed. External guests
brought knowledge from their experiences in the field of risk information.
The tool was installed in the three countries and the users were
trained to use it. Material, adapted to the local contexts according
to the field studies, was installed. Final missions drew the conclusions
of the Europe-Asian cooperation. Most of partners are very interested
in carrying on the project.
